Career So Far: Faye Bryson
With great experience in the English and Australian topflight, versatile defender Faye Bryson joins Hibernian Women – read more about our new recruit’s career so far below!
The 28-year-old signs for the Club on an initial short-term contract, bolstering Joelle Murray’s defensive options heading into our post-split fixtures.
Our new defender started off her youth career with Liverpool before joining city rivals Everton as a youngster – where she captained the Blues in the 2014 FA Youth Cup Final.
Bryson would make her professional debut with the Toffees in WSL2 the next year, coming on as a half-time substitute in a 2-2 league draw against London Bees in April 2015.
After growing in game-time, Faye would be a key player for Everton, playing eight out of nine games, as they gained promotion to the WSL following their 2017 WSL Spring Series triumph.
The champions would lose just once in the Spring Series – a ‘half-season’ competition formed to bridge the gap between two full seasons as the WSL altered its calendar to become a traditional autumn-to-spring league – as Bryson also scored her first career goal in a 3-0 win over Aston Villa.
In Everton’s first season back in the topflight, Bryson would play 18 times as the Blues staved off relegation while reaching the semi-finals and quarter-finals of the FA Cup and WSL Cup, respectively. Later in her Blues career, Faye would play under former Hibs Women boss Willie Kirk.
The full-back moved to Bristol City in 2020 and later would join Reading in 2021; amassing over 50 league appearances in the WSL for both clubs across three seasons.
A move across the world to Australia to join A-League outfit Central Coast Mariners would follow her time with Reading, with Bryson making 21 league appearances as the Mariners reached the semi-finals of the A-League Finals following an impressive fifth-place finish.
A move down the east coast of Australia ahead of the 2024-25 season saw Faye sign for Sydney FC.
She would regularly start for the Sky Blues – making 13 starts in 17 total league appearances for the club before departing in Summer 2025.
The defender, known for her versatility and football intelligence, now joins up with her new teammates as we prepare for our crucial end of season run-in.
Welcome, Faye!
