Katherine Jenkins hosts Classic FM women special
Katherine Jenkins will present a special programme on Classic FM to mark International Women’s Day.
The mezzo-soprano will host a three-hour show from 1pm on Sunday 8 March celebrating women who have shaped classical music.
During the programme, Katherine will highlight composers, conductors and performers including Louise Farrenc, Marin Alsop and Eunike Tanzil, sharing their music and stories with listeners.
The broadcast also comes as Katherine marks 25 years in music, with an anniversary tour of the UK and Ireland planned for October.
Katherine said: “It’s an honour to be back behind the mic on Classic FM, and this time, to celebrate International Women’s Day. Classical music has given me a lifelong home, and today I want to shine a light on the extraordinary women who have shaped it.”
She added: “I hope this programme inspires every listener, and especially every young girl with a dream, to know that the world of classical music belongs to them too.”
The special will air from 1pm to 4pm on Classic FM and be available through the Global Player app.
