Chelsea are also one of Spurs’ biggest rivals, and one which Tottenham have struggled to get the better of as well.
These rivalries matter deeply to supporters, and one former Blues captain has now opened up on his experience with the Lilywhites.
Flashscore has launched a new interview series called Big Pete, hosted by Petr Cech, and the first episode features John Terry in a wide-ranging conversation reflecting on their Chelsea years.
During the interview, Terry addressed his feelings towards Tottenham and recalled incidents from his youth involving Spurs supporters, revealing just how much he hates Tottenham.
He said, “I hate Spurs. Honestly, it is really clear.
“And this is when you are at a club for so long, from 2014 when I first joined the club. I remember being a ball boy when I was 14, 15, and I was by the Spurs fans and they were abusing me. I was a kid.
“They were abusing me, throwing stuff at me, and it was like, wow, I feel it. I really feel it, and that just stayed with me. And also really proud of the fact we, in our time, we never lost a home game against Spurs. And that is still the same now.”

Tottenham’s struggles on the pitch this season are no doubt music to the ears of many of their local rivals who will want to see them go down.
At the moment, Spurs are in the bottom half of the table and battling relegation, and should they lose that fight, they could well lose their Premier League status, one they have held for over four decades.
Spurs’ Premier League fate could pretty much be decided by Chelsea when the two clash again later this season.
Chelsea have already beaten the Lilywhites 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this campaign, but the two sides are yet to meet again, with the reverse fixture scheduled for May 9, Spurs’ 36th outing in the league.
Tottenham could either be right in the thick of a relegation scrap when the two sides lock horns, or they might be safe. If the former is the case, then Chelsea could compound Spurs’ misery, with a win at Stamford Bridge likely to seal Tottenham’s Premier League fate.
