'Scrubs' Season 2: Fans Get Good News, Favorite Character's Return Teased
Sixteen years after it left the air Scrubs returned and doesn't appear to have missed a beat as fans flocked to their respective televisions to watch the reboot of the beloved series.
"Old friends JD and Turk scrub in together for the first time in a long time, learning that medicine has changed; interns have changed; but their bromance has stood the test of time," the tagline for the show reads.
Will 'Scrubs' Reboot Get Another Season?
Following the strong showing, creator Bill Lawrence revealed he's "really hopeful" a second season of the reboot is in store. “I’m so happy and grateful that anybody still cares about that show,” Lawrence said about the revival’s performance.
“I love the people that are in it so much, not only the old ones because I’ve talked way too much about Zach,” Lawrence added, referencing the fact that Braff's work on all of his shows including directing episodes for Shrinking and his new showRooster. “And Donald and Sarah, I’ve been working with them a long time.”
Ratings for 'Scrubs' Reboot Continue to Shine
Scrubs has already received acclaim from critics and fans alike, with 90% from critics and 95% from fans on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans aren't just giving the series glowing scores, though, they're lining up in droves to watch the show.
Three episodes in, the Scrubs revival ranks as ABC’s No. 1 series in linear adults 18-49 ratings. Headlined by original stars Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke, delivered the highest-rated comedy episode on ABC and top ABC series debut on streaming in over a year, according to Deadline.
Lawrence also teased the return of Dr. Kelso. "Dr. Kelso (Ken Jenkins) will be back next year. It just didn’t work out this year but it will next year," he said.
The show's reboot can be found on ABC, Hulu and Disney+.
