Trump declares Cuba’s communist regime ‘in its last moments of life’
While the military campaign continued to make sure Iran’s potential nuclear weapons program in the Middle East was ended, President Donald Trump took the podium at the “Shield of the Americas” Summit in Florida in reveal that Cuba’s communist regime is “in its last moments of life.”
Leaders of 12 Western Hemisphere nations, including Argentina’s President Javier Milei and El Salvador’s Nayib Bukele, were in attendance.
Trump said Cuba, a communist enclave since 1959, soon will have a great “new life,” according to a report from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
It’s actually the third location in which Trump’s influence has called for a new life for citizens, following Iran and earlier Venezuela, where Trump’s orders removed dictator Nicolas Maduro from power.
“As we achieve a historic transformation in Venezuela, we’re also looking forward to the great change that will soon be coming to Cuba,” Trump said. “Cuba’s in its last moments of life as it was. It’ll have a great new life, but it’s in its last moments of life the way it is.
“Cuba’s at the end of the line, they’re very much at the end of the line. They have no money, they have no oil. They have a bad philosophy, they have a bad regime that’s been bad for a long time. I mean, they used to get the money from Venezuela, they’d get the oil from Venezuela. But they don’t have any money from Venezuela. They don’t have any oil.”
He did suggest that Cuba already “wants to negotiate,” the report said.
The Washington Examiner described, from Trump’s address, that Cuba was “in the crosshairs.”
Trump has been alluding to leadership change in Cuba for weeks now, with officials even suggesting a “Friendly takeover.”

The Washington Examiner said the coalition came to be months after Trump began striking suspected drug trafficking boats in the Caribbean to curb cartel drug shipments in the region.
“We knocked down drugs coming in by sea. Drugs coming in through water is down 96%,” Trump said. “We’re trying to find out who the other 4% are, because I think they’re the bravest people in the world – either that or they don’t watch television.”
He also signed a proclamation “Commitment To Countering Cartel Criminal Activity” on Saturday, formally addressing the coalition as well.
The report said so far in 2026, multiple major players in the cartel world have been terminated. The Mexican army took out the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, nicknamed “El Mencho,” in mid-February with the assistance of American intelligence. A week later, Colombia arrested a key leader of the Venezuelan-based terrorist organization Tren de Aragua using U.S. law enforcement assistance as well.
