Georgia Tech has parted ways with head coach Damon Stoudamire on Sunday, according to reports. The former NBA star was hired off the Boston Celtics staff in 2023 and spent three seasons with the Yellowjackets, finishing with a record of 42-55.
The Yellowjackets went just 2-16 in ACC play this season, failing to reach the ACC tournament and finishing the season on a 12-game losing streak.
Under Stoudamire, Georgia Tech played postseason basketball once, an NIT appearance in 2025, in which it lost in the first round at home to Jacksonville State, 81-64.
Some regional names that have gained traction online as potential candidates after the announcement of Stouadmire’s departure are Furman’s Bob Richey, UNC-Wilmington’s Takayo Siddle, Belmont’s Casey Alexander, Troy’s Scott Cross and Appalachian State’s Dustin Kerns, among others.
After success as an NBA assistant, it remains unclear if Stoudamire will eye a return to the NBA or remain at the collegiate level.
