Facebook Is The Worst
I'll preface this rant by stating the obvious... you don't have to log into Facebook. Using this social media app is entirely optional. You cannot lose if you do not play.
When I log into Facebook these days, I see people I know and trust sharing AI slop and completely fake stories. One of the worst offenders is a Facebook feed called Vintage Toronto that consistently posts AI slop, trying to pass the photos off as real. They're rarely real, but many bite.
Multiple Facebook friends who should know better shared this AI slop. This is supposedly "bakeries and delis thriving at Bathurst and Bloor Jewish corner".
And as offensive as those fake stories are, pushed by Facebook ad nauseam, the most offensive are the stories about the beloved Blue Jay great who has announced he's dying of cancer or stories about the Blue Jays helping our unhoused people in extraordinary ways.
A lovely thought, but it didn't happen. And if your news item came from Facebook, assume it's fake until proven otherwise.
