'Marshals' Just Had a Real Country Singer Appear in a Killer Cameo
In Marshals Episode 2, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) finds out how hard it is to suddenly be part of a new team. After going after a dangerous cartel who were prepping a homemade bomb, the Marshals gang is slightly fractured, which reveals some background trauma between Pete (Logan Marshall-Green) and Kayce. On the one hand, the team is growing closer. On the other hand, there are still some conflicts and skeletons in everyone's closets.
At the end of the episode, in the aftermath of a successful operation, Pete and Andrea (Ash Santos) find themselves sharing a drink at the local salon, the Four Sixes. And, while they're having drinks, an striking country singer is belting out a touching ballad. But, that's not an actor. It's country singer Ashley Cooke, playing her song "next to you."
Cooke confirmed her Marshals appearance on Instagram, ahead of the second episode, "Zone of Death," dropping on Sunday night. The song "next to you" is from Cooke's 2023 album shot in the dark.
Obviously, it makes a ton of sense for a real country star to have a cameo on Marshals. Afterall, Luke Grimes himself is a country singer, and he'll soon be joined by singer-songwriter Riley Green, who will appear in the series a bit later in the season.
For now, though, if you want to listen to more of Ashley Cooke, you can find her albums on Spotify, Apple Music, and elsewhere.
