Travis Kelce Sends a Clear Message to Taylor Swift

Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce has decided to return to the team for a 14th season after considering retirement, and it sounds like his superstar fiancée, Taylor Swift, played a big role in his decision to return.

During a recent appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show," Kelce opened up a bit about how his fiancée helped convince him to return to the Chiefs for yet another season.

Taylor Swift 'Motivates' Kelce

During the interview with McAfee, Kelce sent a clear message to Swift as he praised her for her ability to persevere in her own industry, revealing that it motivated him to do the same in his career.

"We share the same love for what we do, and fortunately, we've had this desire since we were kids in our selective professions," Kelce told McAfee via ESPN. "It's amazing to see her keep going to the table, keep finding new things to write about, keep finding new melodies and, on top of that, still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does.

"Of course that's motivating. That's motivating for anybody to see, let alone my fiancée, knowing that I'm going through something where I'm trying to figure out exactly what the future holds for me. Something like that definitely motivates me to say, 'You know what, I'm not done, either.' I've still got some ideas in the back of my mind and still got some juice left to play this game."

While Kelce might not be the same player he was in his prime, Kelce finished last season with 76 receptions for 851 yards and five touchdowns, ranking sixth in catches and fourth in receiving yards among tight ends in the NFL.

Not the Only Reason for Return

While Kelce's return might have been motivated by his superstar fiancée, it's not the only reason he decided to return. Kelce said that the Chiefs' decision to bring back Eric Bieniemy as offensive coordinator played a big role in his decision, too.

"It was pretty short and brief and the Chiefs knew where I was the entire time on it," Kelce said of his decision. "You always need to take a step back, breathe and let the emotions of the season settle down and see where the body is. Man, I'm still in love with this game. I still love going to work, putting on the pads, grinding it out and just playing the game.

"My best opportunity was playing for the Chiefs yet again and running this thing back with Pat Mahomes and Coach Reid and got my guy Eric Bieniemy back. There's a lot of pieces in Kansas City that I just absolutely love and I can't wait to get back in the building with them."

Kelce is also excited about some of the roster additions from general manager Brett Veach, including former Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Grant, who was most recently named the Super Bowl MVP during the team's Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots.

"We've got Brett Veach and Andy Reid going and getting the Super Bowl MVP; You kidding me?" Kelce shouted. "The biggest thing [in] coming back was that we've got to be even more hungrier than we've been before. Talking to Pat and Coach Reid and the guys, it's pretty [clear] there's a lot of dawg mentality right now to get this thing fixed.

"That mentality itself is already motivating me to get to where I need to be during the season."
