Nicole Kidman Admits Alexander Skarsgård's Breath Was A Vibe-Killer Before Big Little Lies Love Scenes
Nicole Kidman has had her fair share of on-screen smooches in her time, kissing some of the world’s most lusted-after men.
However, there was one A-lister who didn’t quite live up to her standards.
During a recent appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, the Australian actor called out her Big Little Lies co-star Alexander Skarsgård over his love of eating falafel before filming romantic scenes.
“When Alexander Skarsgård ate a falafel sandwich before we did the scenes in Big Little Lies, I’m like, ‘No, no, no, Alex. I’m meant to be into you and kissing you – put away the falafel now,’ she told hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers.
She continued: “I’m sure he did not eat a falafel ever again. I said, ‘No more falafel. Nope. Not before you kiss, not before you make love’. Put the falafel away.”
Nicole and Alexander played a married couple with dark secrets in the award-winning miniseries, based on Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name.
The Oscar winner told the podcasting duo that bad breath is her biggest “dealbreaker”, which may explain why she didn’t like kissing the Swedish actor after his aromatic lunch choice.
“You could be the most gorgeous, gorgeous guy, and you come at me with bad breath, and I’m like, ‘no’,” she explained.
“If I say, ‘Breathe on me’, and I have to recoil – yikes, I’m out. You could not offer me enough money.”
Nicole later joked that losing her sense of smell after having Covid helped “free” her from this problem.
Someone who doesn’t have to worry about smelling badly, according to Nicole, is Rihanna. “We don’t need to unwind it or decipher it, just know that it’s all true,” she claimed. “It’s intoxicating, like I will follow you around.”
During a recent interview with Variety, she also praised Madonna’s signature scent, after meeting her at the Oscars in the late 1990s.
“I remember being nervous because of the colour [of my dress],” Nicole recalled. “And then [I saw] Madonna that night and she said, ‘Best dress!’. All I could say back was, ‘You smell so good’. She did. She had the softest skin.
“You know who else smells so good? Rihanna. Intoxicating. I sat next to her at the Met.”
Nicole is currently starring in Scarpetta on Amazon Prime, playing Patricia Cromwell’s iconic medical examiner in the new series.
