Woman Put Drugs in Food to Try to Kill Relative’s Unborn Baby
An Iowa woman has been arrested and charged after allegedly lacing a pan of lasagna with oxycodone in an attempt to kill a pregnant relative’s unborn baby.
Amber Snow, 36, of Decorah, allegedly mixed oxycodone into the dish and delivered it to the pregnant woman’s family just three days after Christmas last year, according to the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office.
The dish was “intended to cause a miscarriage to a pregnancy of a woman in the family that received the lasagna,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The pregnant woman had no knowledge of the attempt to kill her baby.

The incident came to light in January when the victim’s family contacted authorities about a family-size pan of lasagna they suspected had been contaminated with drugs. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation tested the dish and confirmed the presence of oxycodone, a schedule II narcotic.
Investigators searched Snow’s devices and found internet searches related to the incident, along with messages and phone conversations to a suspected co-conspirator.
Police said additional arrests are expected.
The baby was not harmed, and it is not clear whether the pregnant woman consumed any of the lasagna. Officials did not specify if the baby has since been born.
Snow shares a minor child with a member of the victim’s family, and that child was aware the lasagna was tainted and had objected to it.
Snow is facing multiple charges including conspiracy to intentionally kill an unborn baby, conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, and child endangerment. She is being held in the Winneshiek County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
Police have not disclosed a possible motive for wanting to terminate the unborn child.
The case highlights the grave threat posed to vulnerable unborn children when individuals resort to such dangerous actions, including from abortion pills. Pro-life advocates often point to incidents like this as underscoring the need to protect life at all stages, from conception onward, against deliberate attempts to end it. The investigation remains ongoing.
