Candide Thovex Just Did The Impossible, Again
Stop me if you've heard this before: Candide Thovex is the best skier in the world.
It's become a cliché amongst skiers. Even with Father Time ticking away and bringing the Flying Frenchman into his mid-40s, Candide keeps upping the ante.
Yesterday, March 12, 2026, Thovex published a new 5-minute video on YouTube titled "Les Tufs". In the video, Thovex rips, flips, and squeezes his way through some of the gnarliest terrain we've seen to date. The video was filmed in Tignes, France.

I could write separate articles about each individual trick, line, and clip; they're all that good, but let's focus on the final clip for efficiency's sake.
I may be showing some recency bias here, but I think that was the most impressive straight line I've ever seen?
Most straight lines are done on powder or cold snow conditions, but leave it to Candide to send it down a multiple-thousand-foot descent on a thin patch of snow that wiggles its way through exposure, rocks, and no-fall zones.
I have watched the POV, drone, and third-person clips countless times, and I can't get enough of them. It's perfection.
Candide Thovex
That's not even mentioning the multiple rock wall rides, massive flips, and other mind-melting skills that Candide shows off throughout the five-minute edit.
I know the POWDER Awards aren't around anymore (here's hoping that changes soon), but Candide's "Les Tufs" video would certainly be nominated for best edit.
Why not give it another watch (or ten) while you're here?
