Woman arrested after 18-day-old baby dies after falling ‘from a height’ in London
A woman has been arrested after a newborn baby girl fell from a height at a property in central London.
Police have launched a murder investigation after the 18-day-old infant was declared dead in hospital today.
Officers attended a home on Horseferry Road in Westminster at 7.30am following reports that a baby had fallen ‘from a height’.
She was taken to the hospital where she fought for her life, but she was later pronounced dead.
A 43-year-old woman has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains held in custody.

An investigation has been launched into the fatal incident, which officers believe occurred ‘within a domestic context’.
Anyone with information has been urged to come forward.
DCI Alison Foxwell said: ‘Our thoughts today are with the baby’s family.
‘The death of an infant is always an extremely tragic occurrence, and officers are making urgent enquiries around the circumstances.
‘At this stage, we believe the incident occurred within a domestic context, but we are appealing for anybody with information to come forward.’
