Teenager Sent to Hospital After Colliding With Snowmobile in Banff
A teenager snowboarding at Banff Sunshine Village in Alberta was hospitalized after colliding with a snowmobile.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said that a collision happened at the ski resort in Banff National Park around 1 p.m. local time on March 14. Emergency Health Services took over the care of the child upon arrival.
“[On Saturday] at approximately 2:15 p.m., EHS responded to the Sunshine Village Ski Resort for reports of a collision between a skier and a snowmobile,” said Stuart Brideaux, public education officer with Alberta Health Services, told the Rocky Mountain Outlook in an email.
The teen was brought to Alberta’s Children’s Hospital in Calgary by an ambulance. The injuries were serious, but not life-threatening. The collision happened near the top of Banff Ave, a run below the WaWa lift.
“We have been advised that the snowboarder is in stable condition. The ski area is investigating the incident,” Banff Sunshine Village said in a statement shared with the Outlook.
The cause of the collision has not yet been released to the public. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
