The Sphere Has 17,600 Seats — Here's Exactly Where You Want to Be
Metallica recently announced a 24-show residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas running from October 2026 through March 2027 — the first metal band ever to play the venue — and tickets are already only available on resale sites. If you're planning to go, where you sit basically matters more at the Sphere than at almost any other venue on earth. Here's what you need to know.
What is the Sphere in Las Vegas, and Where is the Best Place to Sit?
The 366-foot-tall structure on the eastern end of the Strip houses the world's largest and highest-resolution LED screen — a wraparound display so immersive that your seat fundamentally changes what you experience. The usual rules for picking concert seats don't quite apply here.
The consensus among frequent visitors is that the middle sections of the lower bowl — roughly rows 15 through 30, centered on the stage — offer the best overall experience. You're close enough to feel connected to the performance but far enough back that the full scope of the wraparound screen is visible without craning your neck. Sections 103 through 113 are consistently cited as the ideal range.

The Sphere's wraparound screen changes the calculus on upper bowl seating in a way traditional arenas don't. Because the visuals surround you on all sides and overhead, upper level seats don't feel disconnected from the action the way they would at a conventional venue. Many visitors report that sitting higher actually enhances the immersive quality of the screen. Rows in the 200 level closer to the center of the bowl are worth considering if lower bowl tickets are unavailable or out of budget.
Seats to Avoid in the Sphere
The very front rows of the lower bowl closest to the stage are widely considered the worst in the house for screen-heavy productions — you're too close to take in the full wraparound display and spend most of the show looking straight up. Side sections at extreme angles to the stage can also limit sightlines depending on the production.
Every seat comes equipped with a haptic wristband delivering vibrations synced to the music and visuals. The Sphere also features Sphere Immersive Sound, described as the world's most advanced concert-grade audio system, which delivers audio with unmatched clarity and precision to every seat in the house — meaning even the upper bowl sounds extraordinary.
What to Know About Metallica's Show at the Sphere
For Metallica specifically, the band is continuing its "No Repeat Weekend" tradition from its M72 World Tour, with completely different setlists on Thursday and Saturday nights. Attending both nights of a weekend is worth serious consideration.
Lars Ulrich summed up why this residency is worth the trip: "About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in '23, I thought — we have to do this. It's completely uncharted territory."
Metallica's Life Burns Faster residency kicks off October 1, 2026. The band has declared the 24-show run the final expansion, stating simply: "This is it — we're maxing out Life Burns Faster."
