Gang Fight Erupts at Los Angeles Surf Beach as 15-Year-Old Boy Is Shot (Video)
Over the weekend, with a heatwave roaring through Southern California, hordes flocked to the beaches from San Diego to Los Angeles and beyond.
In the City of Angels, just off the runway from LAX, a fight erupted out at Dockweiler State Beach – a popular spot for bonfires, beach parties, and the occasional, often less crowded wave for surfers looking to avoid the bedlam that is Manhattan Beach’s El Porto.
Below, local news reports.
The victim, whose identity has yet to be revealed, was a 15-year-old boy. Allegedly, a fight broke out, when the boy was near lifeguard tower 55 on the 11400 block of Vista Del Mar. He told police that he heard a gunshot around 7:20 pm, then realized he was the one that was shot. Los Angeles Fire Department transported the teen to the hospital.
He remains in stable condition, with a gunshot wound to the hip, according to reports. As for the shooter, no suspects have been apprehended, per the latest from the police. An investigation is underway.
As for what led to the shooting and fight, details are scarce. But here's something from KTLA: “Although the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, LAPD officers said the incident appears to be gang-related.”
Police cordoned off the area following the incident, as seen in witness videos posted to Citizen.
It’s also not the first time that a shooting has happened at this very same beach. Back in May of 2025, a 40-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
While Dockweiler State Beach can be a raucous spot for bonfire parties, it also provides a wide swath of beachbreak, which occasionally, can produce fun peaks for surfers. It may not be the best wave in Los Angeles, but Angelenos take what they can get.
Just…hopefully…not bullets.
