Why We Love This Deal
While you could spend hundreds to get a premium pocket knife or one of the best multitools, you certainly don’t have to. In fact, sometimes the best tool is the simplest, like this keychain multitool from Gerber that packs nine functions into a compact and TSA-friendly form factor. The best part? It's on sale for less than $10.
The Gerber Mullet Keychain Multitool is on sale for just $8, a 30% discount from its normal price of $11. It features a dead-simple design (no moving parts) and offers a surprising amount of utility for what is essentially a hunk of metal. I have kept a very similar multitool, a Nite Ize DoohicKey, on my keychain for years, and I use it almost every day—but this one has even more features than the one I own. At just eight bucks, it’s an awesome bargain for a functional, easy-to-carry tool from a highly respected brand. It’s even cheaper than similar on-sale models from Kershaw.

What Shoppers Should Know
- Dimensions (LW): 3 x 0.75 inches
- Weight: 0.7 ounces
- Tools: 9, including multiple drivers, a bottle opener, a scraper, a pry bar, a nail puller, and others
- Material: Stainless steel
- Carry Options: Key ring or belt loop
The Mullet measures 3 inches long by ¾-inch wide, and it weighs under an ounce, so you’ll barely feel it. It ships with a keyring, so you can use it as a keychain for your house and car keys, and it also includes a belt loop hanger for attaching it to your pants. A crucial benefit compared to bigger multitools: It doesn’t include a knife blade, so you can fly with it and it won’t get confiscated by the TSA.
I really like the Mullet’s function-to-size ratio. Compared to my DoohicKey, which I love, it offers even more tools, including a nail puller, a curved pry bar, and a Philips head screwdriver. Both tools feature a scraper, a bottle opener, and a hex wrench, but the hex has a fuller shape on the Mullet than the DoohicKey, which gives it a more secure grip on fasteners. (I’ve never been able to successfully use the wrench feature on my DoohicKey.) While the DoohicKey is a few bucks cheaper, I think the Mullet’s slightly higher price is worth it given its extra functionality.
