'Mormon Wives' Cast Thought Taylor Frankie Paul Was in a Better Place — Then Her Latest Drama Changed Everything
Taylor Frankie Paul’s alleged domestic violence situation has not only created a nightmare for ABC and Hulu PR, but it’s also put her Secret Lives of Mormon Wives co-stars in an uncomfortable position.
On March 16, People and TMZ reported that filming for Season 5 of the reality show had been paused due to a reported dispute between Paul and her ex, Dakota Mortensen. The former duo is co-parenting son Ever, 1, after their split, but the dispute comes on the heels of starring role as The Bachelorette, which premieres on March 22.
Now, her Mormon Wives castmates are “honestly terrified to film with Taylor right now,” according to an Us Weekly source. “The women have made it clear they don’t want to be around her because they see her as a major liability.” It’s a stunning turn of events because her co-stars “believed Taylor was in a better place” after wrapping up The Bachelorette and that the soft-swinging scandals and domestic violence issues were behind them.
“Now, many of them feel they’ve moved past the point of dealing with this kind of behavior and simply don’t want to be put in that position again,” the insider added.
To refresh your memory, Paul has been down this path before. She and Mortensen were entangled in a domestic violence incident in February 2023 when she was charged with two felony counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child and one felony count of aggravated assault, per CBS News in March 2023. Paul allegedly threw a chair at her then-boyfriend which accidentally hit her daughter from her marriage to Tate Paul.
In September 2025, Paul told Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast that she pleaded guilty to aggravated assault while the other charges “were all dropped.” Still, the push and pull between Paul and Mortensen’s often toxic relationship has been chronicled over the four seasons of the Hulu reality series.
The current issue not only leaves the fifth season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives hanging in a delicate balance but also creates a publicity nightmare for the upcoming season of The Bachelorette.
