'Super Mario Galaxy Movie' Teaser Reveals Secret Nintendo Crossover
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the follow-up to the 2023 box office smash-hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie, has been teasing several franchise characters in the lead-up to its April 1 release.
Previously, we've seen the introduction of Yoshi, voiced by Donald Glover, one of the long-running game series' most beloved characters. Other, often old-school game characters, such as Bowser Jr., Big Bertha, R.O.B., and Mouser, have made blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameos in promotional material for the movie.
A new teaser, however, has featured more new character cameos — this time of the non-Mario variety. Shared on the film's social media channels, there's a hidden appearance relating to another beloved Nintendo franchise.

Pikmin, the cutesy plant-based creatures from the Nintendo games of the same name, appear briefly in the clip, seemingly implying they will appear in the upcoming animated movie.
First launched on GameCube back in 2001, Pikimin's puzzle-based gameplay has appeared on multiple Nintendo console incarnations, including the DS, Wii, and the Switch, in addition to its mobile and tablet games. The strategic survival games have become one of Nintendo's most loved, as well as most recognizable, franchises — after all, who could resist the charms of these cute little creatures? Probably not Mario, by the looks of things.
Gamers will know that this, of course, is not the first time Mario and Pikmin have crossed paths. Pikmin amiibo figures can be used to unlock a Pikmin Mii costume in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, as well as character costumes in Super Mario Maker.
Perhaps most obviously, the two Nintendo franchises — alongside many others — have appeared alongside each other in the Super Smash Bros. games. Captain Olimar, the protagonist of Pikmin, is a playable character in the game, using the Pikmin as an aid in the crossover fighting game. This time, we assume, less brawling will be involved.
