UNIC event on Artificial Intelligence, Data Science paths set for March 28
An event titled “Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities, Challenges and Studies” will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 10am-12pm, at the Newton Amphitheatre, University of Nicosia.
From autonomous vehicles and smart homes to medical diagnosis and drug discovery, Artificial Intelligence is transforming the way we live, work and interact with the world around us. How do ChatGPT and other emerging technologies operate? How does YouTube decide which videos to recommend? Which products are most frequently purchased together by customers? How can the performance of a football or basketball team be improved through data analysis based on previous matches?
During this informative event, participants will explore the world of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and discover the wide range of academic and career pathways available in this rapidly evolving field. Whether you are a secondary school student with a passion for technology or simply curious about the future and innovation, this event is designed for you.
As part of the event, the Department of Computer Science and the BSc in Data Science programme will be presented. The programme features an innovative curriculum covering contemporary topics such as AI, Big Data and Data Governance, combined with practical learning and strong links with industry.
The event’s speaker and presenter will be Dr Demetris Trichinas, Assistant Professor, School of Sciences and Engineering, Department of Computer Science.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to obtain further information about academic studies, student life and career prospects.
The event is addressed to students of public and private secondary schools, as well as technical schools, and will be conducted in English.
