'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Trailer Has Arrived — And Fans Can't Wait to See More
The first trailer has been released for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth solo movie starring Tom Holland as the iconic superhero.
The trailer was teased throughout the day on March 17 in brief three-second clips before releasing in full on March 18. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will release on July 31.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Introduces Many New & Returning Characters
At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker was forced to cast a spell with the help of Benedict Cumberbatch's Dr. Strange to make everybody in the world forget who he was—sacrificing his relationship with Zendaya's MJ in the process.
The next sequel will pick up shortly after that conclusion, with Peter starting his new life and adapting to the world of anonymity. The trailer teases several new villains, including Michael Mando's Scorpion and a mysterious new character played by Sadie Sink.
Perhaps the biggest reveal of the trailer was the return of Mark Ruffalo as Dr. Bruce Banner—the scientist better known for his Hulk alter-ego. Ruffalo first appeared in 2012's The Avengers, and has been a constant fixture of the MCU ever since.
The trailer also gives a first look at Jon Bernthal's character Frank Castle, who previously appeared in the Netflix series Punisher. This marks the MCU's latest attempt to bridge the gap between the MCU and Netflix shows, following the integration of Daredevil in the previous Spider-Man movie.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously helmed the MCU's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This marks the first time and MCU Spider-Man movie has not been directed by Jon Watts, who stepped back following the success of No Way Home.
Watts was originally slated to direct The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but this duty was later passed to Matt Shakman, the mind behind the MCU's first television series, Wandavision.
Watch Spider-Man: Brand New Day exclusively in theaters from July 31.
