Davos Baukultur Alliance recognizes Montreal in Pioneering Places Cohort
The Davos Baukultur Alliance, an initiative powered by the World Economic Forum, has launched the Pioneering Places Cohort, a network of six cities committed to promoting different qualities in their municipal policies.
The City of Montreal confirmed its participation in the cohort by launching an action plan to mobilize the design and architecture sector to transform the construction, demolition, and renovation industries.
Montreal’s participation stems from commitments made in both the Montreal Agenda for Quality and Exemplary Design and Architecture, and the Montreal Circular Economy Roadmap 2024-2030.
Throughout 2026, an international community of practice coordinated by the World Economic Forum will support participating cities and advise them on the actions to prioritize achieving their objectives.
Founded in 2023 by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with the Swiss government, the Davos Baukultur Alliance is a group of public and private sector organizations whose objective is to foster dialogue on cultural, social, economic, and environmental qualities in design and architecture.
To contribute improving the quality of living environments, the Alliance’s three priorities are: sustainable development and circularity, affordability and the creation of social value, and climate resilience and adaptation.
The first cohort of pioneering cities includes Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Medellín, Colombia; Montreal, Canada; Nairobi, Kenya; San Francisco, U.S.; and Utrecht, Netherlands.
