Willie Nelson, 92, and Bob Dylan, 84, Reunite for New Songs
Not many musicians can claim they've written, recorded, and released over 150 albums — and maybe even fewer can claim they have a Bob Dylan co-write, to boot.
Willie Nelson may be turning 93 years old on his birthday next month, but the icon is showing no signs of slowing down. To celebrate his landmark birthday, he's releasing a new album, titled Dream Chaser, just weeks later, on May 29 via Legacy Records. Oh, and he's also embarking on a quick national tour from April, starting in Alabama on April 22 and ending in Texas on May 2, so bring your cowboy hats and a cake for Willie, whose birthday is on April 29.
The upcoming album, his 156th studio release, features the track "I Can’t Read Your Mind," co-written by Nelson and Dylan, also featuring the country legend's frequent collaborator, Buddy Cannon. Die-hard fans of Dylan and Nelson will remember their last co-write over 30 years ago, "Heartland," for Nelson's 1993 album Across the Borderline.
The tracklist for the upcoming album is as following:
- 1. Dream Chaser (Written by Buddy Cannon, Bobby Tomberlin & Willie Nelson)
- 2. Fly Away (Written by Buddy Cannon & Bobby Whitlock)
- 3. We’d Make A Good Movie (Written by Willie Nelson, Buddy Cannon & Bobby Tomberlin)
- 4. I Can’t Read Your Mind (Written by Willie Nelson, Buddy Cannon & Bob Dylan)
- 5. Whiskey Wants Me To (Written by Buddy Cannon & Bobby Tomberlin)
- 6. Wonder What I’m Gonna Do (Written by Willie Nelson & Buddy Cannon)
- 7. After All (Written by Willie Nelson & Buddy Cannon)
- 8. Love Overdue (Written by Mickey Raphael, Donald W. Poythress, & Anna Lisa Graham)
- 9. I Don’t Think I’ve Cried Today (Written by Buddy Cannon, Bobby Tomberlin & Willie Nelson)
- 10. Developing My Pictures (Written by Earl Montgomery)
Bob Dylan has also occasionally toured alongside Nelson, and the two continue to embark on frequent national — and international — concert endeavours, so who knows? Maybe the two old friends will find themselves on the road again together once more.
