Pete Hegseth says ‘ungrateful’ Europe should be saying ‘thank you to Donald Trump’
Pete Hegseth told reporters that the entire world ‘should be saying thank you’ to Donald Trump while claiming the Iran War has been a success.
Bragging about how well the Iran War had gone, Hegseth slammed those who have questioned the length of the war and the widespread effects.
‘A regime like that refusing to abandon its nuclear ambitions is not just a regional problem, it’s a direct threat to America, to freedom and to civilisation in the world, the Middle East, our ungrateful allies in Europe,’ Hegseth said.
‘Even segments of our own press should be saying one thing to President Trump, ‘Thank you’.’
Hegseth’s remarks come as gas prices have skyrocketed and Brent crude oil, the international standard, spiked to $114 a barrel as global fears of an energy crisis rose.
Prices have gone up more than 57% since Israel and the United States started the war on February 28 with strikes on Iran.
Despite this, Hegseth said the war in Iran would ‘not be like’ those in Iraq and Afghanistan, started by what he called ‘foolish politicians’.
‘The media here wants you to think, just 19 days into this conflict, that we’re somehow spinning toward an endless abyss or quagmire. Nothing could be further from the truth,’ Hegseth claimed.
Trump’s war in Iran is widely unpopular, not just in the United States but also in the UK.
Last week, it was revealed that American soldiers were told that the Iran conflict is ‘God’s plan’ to bring about the end of the world by officials.
The Military Religious Freedom Foundation received more than 200 complaints from personnel across all branches of the armed forces.
One complainant said their commander kicked off their combat readiness briefing by ‘urging us not to be “afraid” of the looming threat of war.
They said: ‘He urged us to tell our troops that this was “all part of God’s divine plan” and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ.
‘He said that: “’ President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth.”‘
According to a copy of the email shared by journalist Jonathan Larsen, the commander said this with a ‘big grin on his face’.
US ‘secretary of war’ Hegseth has long called for a Christian nationalist approach to leadership.
He has praised the Crusades, when Christian warriors from western Europe ruthlessly removed control of Jerusalem from Muslim rule between the 11th and 13th centuries.
