SURFER Extends Deadline for 2026 Emerging Brand Grant
The window just got a little wider for surf’s next wave of entrepreneurs. SURFER and the good folks at CARV Expo have officially extended the submission deadline for its 2026 Emerging Brand Grant through Friday, April 3, giving upstart surf companies additional time to apply for one of four coveted spots at this year’s CARV Expo in San Diego.
Set to take place May 14–15, the event returns to the San Diego Convention Center, where selected grant recipients will receive a fully sponsored booth, placing them directly in front of buyers, retailers, media, and key industry decision-makers.
Originally launched in 2025, the SURFER Emerging Brand Grant was designed to help promising young surf brands break through by eliminating one of the biggest hurdles in the business: the high cost of exhibiting at a major trade show. In an era where the surf industry continues to consolidate, initiatives like this aim to spotlight fresh ideas and support independent voices pushing the culture forward. The grant provides increased visibility, media exposure, and access to valuable connections that can help accelerate growth well beyond the two-day event.
Last year’s inaugural class—including Mamala Surf Wetsuits, Faro Board Bags, Severson Originals, and AVVA—leveraged the opportunity to expand their reach, build new retail relationships, and introduce their products to a wider audience.
The decision to extend the deadline reflects both strong early interest and a commitment to inclusivity—ensuring that more emerging brands have a chance to throw their hat in the ring.
For young surf brands looking to carve out space in a competitive landscape, the grant represents more than just a free booth, it’s a launchpad. A chance to get in the room, tell their story, and connect with the people who can help take things to the next level.
Brands interested in applying can still submit through the official application portal, with additional time now on the clock. Deadline is Friday, April 3, 2026. Good luck!
