Pizza Hut Reveals 'Space Jam' March Madness Collab — How to Get Free Merch
Space Jam is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year—and now’s your chance to come on and slam with some free merch, thanks to Pizza Hut.
The pizza chain—which is also the official Pizza Partner of March Madness—is marking both the tournament and milestone movie anniversary with a new Pizza Hut x Space Jam collab. With the partnership comes a limited-edition menu, as well as a limited-edition merch drop, the latter of which fans can get for free. Yes, free!
In a statement, Pizza Hut’s Chief Marketing Officer Melissa Friebe said the Space Jam partnership “allows us to tap into the culture and nostalgia that generations of fans love, while bringing something new and unexpected to game night.”
She added, “Whether you’re the seasoned commissioner leading your friends’ bracket draft or watching just for the mascots, Pizza Hut is proud to help feed good times for the most passionate fans all tournament long.”
How to Get Free Merch
Celebrate March Madness court-side or from the comfort of your own couch in some sweet Space Jam-themed swag, exclusive to Pizza Hut’s Hut Rewards loyalty program members.
The collab items include a letterman jacket featuring Bugs Bunny on one side and Bang from the Monstars on the other, a jersey and warmup jacket. All three come in Pizza Hut's signature red, black and white and feature the logos of both the pizzeria and Space Jam on them.
Fans hoping to get their hands one of them should sign up for Hut Rewards. Members who sign up during March Madness will receive the first alerts and exclusive access to the merch, which is available in limited qualities during the campaign. It’s free to sign up, while those who are successful in getting the merch will also get it for zilch.
Want even more free stuff? Download the Pizza Hut app and play Space Jam-inspired games for your chance to win free pizza for a year. The games are live now and run through April 7.
Space Jam-Themed Menu
In addition to the merch, Pizza Hut also rolled out a new Space Jam-themed version of its Triple Treat Box for the partnership.
Delivered in a box featuring Bugs and Tweety in their game day best, the Triple Treat Box comes with two medium pizzas, breadsticks and a choice of dessert, starting at $21.99. They can be ordered at participating stores, PizzaHut.com and the app, while supplies last.
Per Pizza Hut, Bugs and Lola Bunny will also be popping up IRL throughout the campaign, with appearances slated at the Pizza Hut stage at the March Madness Men’s Final Four Tip - Off Tailgate from April 3rd - 6th.
Space Jam’s Legacy
Space Jam was a 1996 Warner Bros. film mixing live-action and animation, starring Michael Jordan as himself, as he’s pulled into a basketball game between the lovable Looney Tunes and the evil Monstars.
Along with everyone’s favorite cartoons, the movie also featured appearances from basketball legends including Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Shawn Bradley, Larry Johnson and Muggsy Bogues.
The film was an absolute smash in theaters, pulling in more than $250 million against an $80 million budget. A sequel starring LeBron James and Zendaya, Space Jam: A New Legacy, was simultaneously released in theaters and on HBO Max in 2021, amid the COVID pandemic.
Despite the day-in-date release, the sequel still made $163.7 million worldwide.
