Tottenham and Rangers ‘in conversations’ about Mikey Moore’s future amid coming-of-age campaign
Rangers boss Danny Rohl has made a candid admission regarding the club’s efforts to keep Tottenham’s Mikey Moore beyond the end of this season.
After a difficult start to his loan spell at Rangers under Russel Martin, Moore is now consistently showcasing his quality under Rohl, who has brought the best out of the Tottenham youngster.
Spurs fans have been delighted with how the young winger has been progressing this season, with many having high hopes for the 18-year-old.
Moore is certainly enjoying his time at Rangers, and the club’s head coach has made a big admission about his future.
Danny Rohl admits Rangers are in talks with Tottenham regarding Mikey Moore
Over the last few weeks, many outlets have suggested that retaining the Tottenham academy graduate is a priority for Rangers this summer.
Rohl has now confirmed that the Scottish club have begun planning for the summer window and are holding conversations with Spurs regarding the winger.
When asked if the Gers have spoken to the Premier League side about Moore, Rohl said (via TEAMtalk): “I think conversations are always there, but we know when Mikey performed like this, you can see Mikey enjoys playing for Rangers. The fans love him, I like him, he’s a key player.
“I think there’s a lot of good things where we could go again together, but we know he’s still not our player, let’s work in the next couple of weeks in all those directions.
“But the most important thing is that we bring good results in the next seven games. I think you can be convinced we started this week to prepare for the summer, I think we are in a good position, we are very clear what we want.
“I think it’s also helpful now that we have the idea of how I want to play football, committed with a fantastic owner, with Andrew, with Dan, with the good people around me, everything goes in the right direction. We work hard, we have again a good summer that we prepare for next season, but let’s finish this season strong and successful.”
What is Moore’s stance on a potential Rangers return?
It was reported by TEAMtalk last month that Moore is eager to extend his stay in Scotland for one more season if he is not afforded regular opportunities at Tottenham.
It has been suggested that Spurs may be open to extending the winger’s loan spell at Rangers so that the youngster can continue getting regular game time next season.
Another outlet even claimed a few weeks ago that Tottenham may be willing to sanction the sale of Moore to Rangers as long as the deal includes a hefty sell-on clause and grants them the first refusal on any future move for the youngster.
