'That is crazy!' Jim Jordan threatens to blow up DHS funding over immigrant arrests

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) threatened to derail a funding plan for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) over the demand that the Trump administration obtain judicial warrants before snatching immigrants from their homes.

"I don't think that's going to happen in the House," Jordan told CNBC on Wednesday, talking about demands the Democrats have made regarding funding of the department. Lack of agreement currently means a partial shutdown, and has caused chaos at airport as TSA agents go unpaid.

"I mean, that list that Mr. Jeffries and Mr. Schumer put out four weeks ago with all their demands, they had 10 different bullet points, but like 16, 17 different demands. There's just some of those things there you should not do."

"This whole idea that you've got to have a judicial warrant, every time you're going to go, you're going to apprehend a migrant who's maybe committed some crime, and you're going to have to get a judicial warrant?" he gasped. "That is crazy! But that's the number one thing on their list."

Jordan insisted that the Democrats' demands "make no sense."

"So, no, we can't give in to that," he said.

CNBC host Joe Kernen noted, "I don't know how we got here, I don't know how we get out of this, but it's not going to be easy."

"Again, these policies are just stupid," Jordan declared. "No common sense."

"You better do it quick because the midterms aren't looking good," the CNBC host warned. "I don't know, Republicans better do it quick because they may not have the chance after November."
