AMARYLLIS HOTEL GATE: Collen Zamba Goes AWOL
Chairperson of the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee, Steve Malondera, has confirmed that former Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Colleen Zamba, is currently outside the country, explaining her continued absence from the committee’s proceedings.
Malondera, however, emphasized that Zamba, who has been repeatedly mentioned by those appearing before the committee, is still expected to appear and respond to questions regarding her alleged involvement in the procurement of the Amaryllis Hotel.
Speaking after engaging Attorney General Frank Mbeta, Malondera said Zamba was granted court permission to travel outside the country as part of her bail conditions.
He added that the committee has so far engaged over 90 percent of individuals expected to testify in the inquiry into the purchase of the hotel by the Public Service Pension Trust Fund.
Malondera further noted that more names and information continue to emerge during the hearings, but the committee remains committed to concluding the inquiry before the end of the current parliamentary sitting. A final report will then be submitted to relevant authorities.
