Alan Ritchson Gives Cheerful ‘Reacher’ Season 4 Update Amid Controversy
Alan Ritchson is thrilled to be back at work, after going viral earlier this week following a bloody, real-life confrontation between him and a neighbor.
On Wednesday, after authorities announced Ritchson won’t face charges for the incident, the actor shared a new video to Instagram, giving fans a positive update on Reacher Season 4.
In the footage, he’s seen completing ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) for the next batch of episodes of the Prime Video hit series. “We are dunzos. This thing is gonna be hitting the airwaves very soon. Best season yet,” he promises viewers.
His caption, meanwhile, appears to address all the news surrounding Ritchson himself this week.
“Happy to be back in the booth after such a crazy week!” he exclaimed, seemingly referencing the headlines. “That’s a wrap for me on post-production — #Reacher Season 4.”
He then reiterated his promise to fans about the quality of the season to come, adding, “This is, without a doubt the most gripping season yet. I think we hit our stride. Firing on all cylinders… as it were.”
No premiere date has yet been set for Season 4, though it is expected to drop sometime this year.
Alan Ritchson Fight Video Goes Viral
The Reacher actor proved he’s not to be messed with off-screen earlier this week, after he was seen getting into a physical fight with another man who confronted him for driving his motorcycle through their Tennessee neighborhood.
First, on Sunday, TMZ published video from a nearby video doorbell claiming to show the actor repeatedly striking another man, who was doubled over on the ground. Following the incident, Ritchson eventually gets back on his motorcycle and drives off, along with two children who appeared to see the whole thing go down.
Then, on Tuesday, footage which appeared to come from Ritchson’s own body camera surfaced online. In it, the neighbor, who has since identified himself as Ronnie Taylor, is seen stepping into the street to block Ritchson’s path as he drives through the neighborhood on his bike.
“Are you f–king kidding me?” Ritchson exclaims. At one point, Ritchson appears to push Taylor to the ground. The video goes on for a bit from there, getting more physical.
Alan Ritchson Cleared by Police
The incident ended with the other guy looking worse for wear, but admitting to TMZ he initiated physical contact. Because of this, the Brentwood Police Department cleared Ritchson of any wrongdoing.
“After reviewing available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, authorities determined that no criminal charges will be pursued,” authorities told TMZ. “Mr. Ritchson’s actions were found to be in self-defense. Although a potential reckless endangerment charge was considered, Mr. Ritchson declined to pursue charges.”
“With the agreement of the District Attorney’s Office, the case is now closed, and no further action will be taken,” the statement concluded.
Ritchson hasn’t made any additional comments about the altercation, aside from a cryptic Instagram share of a Napoleon Bonaparte quote on Monday night. The quote in question? “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”
Amazon has yet to announce a premiere date for Reacher season 4. The show's third season was the most-watched returning season of a show ever on Prime Video, earning over 54 million views in its first 19 days of release alone, according to Variety.
