White House sparks conspiracy theories after cryptic ‘launch’ video
Yesterday evening, the White House posted a mysterious four-second-long video where someone was heard asking: ‘It’s launching soon, right?’
The video, which appeared to be deleted shortly after it was posted, showed someone’s feet with a Snapchat caption reading: ‘Sound on.’
Just hours later, the official account posted a second cryptic video, featuring a caption with a phone and sound emoji.
That one featured a fractured American flag, which flashed on the screen for a moment, along with static and the sound of a text being sent on an iPhone.
It’s unclear if the two videos are related, but so far, the White House has remained tight-lipped about the weird posts.
It hasn’t stopped conspiracy theorists from questioning if the official account was hacked, or if Donald Trump’s administration is hinting at something new.
The bizarre posts might be the account promoting new text alert systems, which the White House has been promoting on other social media pages.
One user replied to the post: ‘Now that’s what I call a distraction from the Epstein files.’
Another added: ‘The official White House page is scaring the entire world into thinking a nuclear war is about to start just to advertise the Trump Phone…’
The initial video, which mentioned someone talking about a launch, could also be linked to the ongoing situation with Iran, but it’s unlikely.
Earlier this week, Trump said the US will destroy each of Iran’s power plants if the country does not allow ships to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz.
The strait, one of the world’s busiest shipping routes for oil, has effectively been closed for almost three weeks in retaliation for strikes by the US and Israel.
Energy prices across the world have spiked as a result, with fears that the situation could fuel significant inflation if it does not end soon.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said last night: ‘President Trump is doing this for the American people, so we are no longer threatened by a rogue terrorist regime in the Middle East that seeks to kill the brave men and women who serve our country.’
