‘Insurance fraud’: New criminal referrals target anti-Trump Letitia James
Letitia James, New York’s attorney general, is facing two new criminal referrals that have been submitted to the Department of Justice accusing her of “insurance fraud.”
They allegations are not new, a judge earlier threw out one related indictment and a grand jury declined to issue a followup.
But now Bill Pulte, the Federal Housing Finance Agency chief, has issued two new criminal count referrals to the DOJ.
A report from the Washington Examiner said the referrals were issued “with the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida.”
The charges allege that James misrepresented how two of her properties in Illinois and Florida would be used in home insurance filings with Universal Property Insurance and Allstate Insurance Company.
James long has held as her assignment from taxpayers to “get” President Donald Trump.
That’s the plank on which she campaigned for office, and that’s what she assumed as her primary responsibility while she’s been in office.
The result was her created case against Trump and his companies that they committed fraud in their valuations of properties regarding various loans. So the irony is that she now is facing fraud counts.
A trial was held before a known anti-Trump judge and witnesses from the “victims” testified they liked doing business with Trump and his companies, all of his loans were paid off, and they would like to do more business with him.
Nevertheless, despite the absence of anyone who was a victim, the judge intoned a judgment against Trump and imposed a financial penalty that would amount to about half a billion dollars.
An appeals court immediately pointed out that penalty was unconstitutional and threw it out.

Pulte charged in the new Illinois criminal referral, “It appears Ms. James made representations that the house would be occupied by a single adult, with no children. Instead, according to the post, she knew the house was actually occupied by four people — three children and her niece.”
About the other charge, he said, “[It] appears Ms. James made false representations that her property would be unoccupied five months out of the year.”
It was Cameron Currie, a trial court judge, who earlier rejected mortgage fraud charges against James.
That resulted not from a decision on the elements of the case but from the judge’s claim that the DOJ prosecutor who led the case, Lindsey Halligan, was installed illegally.
Grand juries in James’ far-left district subsequently reviewed the charges but didn’t indict.
Democrats have claimed that the evidence submitted in support of a prosecution of James was “political,” and was motivated by James’ political attacks on the president.
WND reported that her lawyer, Abbe Lowell, earlier complained that the case should end.
“If they continue, undeterred by a court ruling and a grand jury’s rejection of the charges, it will be a shocking assault on the rule of law and a devastating blow to the integrity of our justice system,” he said.
Actually, it was under the Barack Obama and Joe Biden administrations that the federal government’s law enforcement agencies were weaponized against Trump and those associated with him.
Prosecutor Jack Smith, named then by Biden’s team to bring multiple lawfare cases against Trump, also had been ruled by a federal judge to have failed being appointed properly.
Evidence shows James falsely claimed on an application for a federally backed mortgage that she would be living in a Norfolk, Va., home she bought in 2020 for about $137,000 as a secondary residence but allegedly used it as an investment property.
That gave James a benefit of nearly $20,000 because of a better interest rate.
A post at the Gateway Pundit by Joel Gilbert, who has investigated James’ actions. He explained, “This sequence underscores the difficulty in prosecuting Democrat officials for wrongdoing. Biases have been built into the system by Democrat presidents for years with the appointment of radical judges who disregard the law. This combines with the phenomenon of juries comprised of largely Democrat voters who often seek to protect Democrat officials.”
Gilbert said his own investigations have revealed “a much broader and far more severe portrait of decades-long mortgage fraud by Letitia James stretching back to 1983.
He outlined:
James first engaged in mortgage fraud in 1983 when she and her father, Robert James, obtained a loan from Kadilac Funding Ltd. for a townhome property in Queens. The loan documents listed Robert James as the husband of Letitia James, effectively a fake “marriage” to qualify for a loan that Letitia likely wouldn’t have qualified for. That was no clerical error, but a deliberate fraud and just the beginning of a multi-decade pattern.
Over the years, James misrepresented important facts in multiple real-estate and mortgage-loan applications to secure favorable rates and benefits she was not entitled to.
He cited her listing a five-family building she owns as four units, in order to access better interest rates.
He said, “The pattern is unmistakable. Letitia James, even when confronted with federal charges supported by documented false statements and a 43-year track record of mortgage deception, receives the very same institutional protection.”
