Tottenham close in on Derby County’s unwanted Premier League record amid relegation fears
Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on an unwanted Premier League record that, if broken, will surely see them relegated.
The international break surely came at the perfect time for Tottenham Hotspur, who can now reset and get going again when the Premier League run-in kicks off.
Tottenham have seven games left to play this season – matches Cristian Romero has labelled finals for Spurs, following their horrendous defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest.
Getting results in these games will no doubt help in their fight for Premier League survival, as Tottenham find themselves in 17th place, a single point ahead of West Ham United, who are in the bottom three.
Tottenham Premier League winless run edges towards Derby County record
Spurs are desperate to avoid relegation, but their form since the start of the year has been abysmal.
Tottenham have yet to win a single game in 2026, losing eight of 13 fixtures since their most recent victory, which came at Selhurst Park on 28 December 2025.
It is a dismal record for Spurs, who are now among the top four clubs with the longest winless starts to a calendar year in the Premier League.
Derby County hold the record, having gone 18 games without a win at the start of 2008, picking up only four points and finishing 20th.
Spurs now have to avoid a win in six of their last seven league games to break that record, and should that happen, their Premier League relegation fate will almost certainly be sealed.

Spurs relegation fears grow amid poor form and fixture pressure
This is now getting into worrying territory for Tottenham, who will be desperate to turn their fortunes around this season.
Spurs are currently in a relegation scrap with three teams – Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United – but they are the side in the worst form.

The upcoming fixtures for Tottenham compared with those of their relegation rivals suggest a difficult run-in for the Lilywhites.
Tottenham are now considering a second managerial change this season following Igor Tudor’s disappointing run over the last month.
That change could well be the final throw of the dice as Spurs look to salvage what has been an abysmal 2025-26 campaign.
