Brad Pitt’s Wildest Action Thriller Ever Just Hit Streaming for Free
If you haven't seen Bullet Train yet, this weekend is your moment. (And if you have, it's absolutely worth a rewatch, especially if you're looking to rot on the couch at any point during the weekend). David Leitch's 2022 action film starring Brad Pitt has officially joined Tubi as part of the platform's April lineup, giving the film yet another chance to build on the streaming popularity it has already enjoyed across multiple platforms. Best of all, it costs you nothing.
What is 'Bullet Train' About?
Pitt plays Ladybug, an anxious fixer trying to keep his life simple who winds up stuck on a Japanese bullet train with a mysterious briefcase, a pile of dangerous enemies, and absolutely no chance of a quiet day. From there it escalates — fast, funny, and relentlessly kinetic.
The star-studded cast includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Tangerine, Brian Tyree Henry as Lemon, Joey King as Prince, Andrew Koji as Yuichi Kimura, Hiroyuki Sanada as The Elder, Michael Shannon as The White Death, Bad Bunny as The Wolf, Sandra Bullock as Maria Beetle, and Zazie Beetz as The Hornet. It's an absurd amount of talent crammed into a single train car, and the movie knows exactly how to use all of it.
The Star of 'Bullet Train' is the Stunt Work
Here's what most streaming roundups won't tell you: the real reason to watch Bullet Train is the fight choreography. The 87Eleven action team — the same crew behind John Wick — designed the fight sequences, and they did some of their best work here, crafting Jackie Chan-esque brawls within the confined space of a speeding train.
That constraint is what makes the action so impressive. Every fight has to work within the geography of narrow corridors, luggage racks, and train car doorways, and the 87Eleven team turns those limitations into creative fuel. Brad Pitt reportedly performed 95% of his own stunts, with exceptions only for hard falls and running scenes.
Leitch co-directed the original John Wick before moving on to Atomic Blonde and The Fall Guy, but Bullet Train is arguably his most purely entertaining work — a film that knows how preposterous it can get and leans into it completely.
Brad Pitt's 'Bullet Train' Workout
Because Pitt wanted to perform most of his own stunts, Leitch put him through his training program to improve upon the actor's already athletic nature and physique. Pitt's Bullet Train workouts primarily focused on preventative maintence, preparing his body for the inevitable damage to come.
Pitt did a lot of core work since the amount of twisting and punching he did during his scenes would engage those muscles and cause them to get sore without proper preparation.
What to Know Before You Watch
Bullet Train is streaming free on Tubi right now. No subscription required. It's joined on Tubi's April slate by other action staples including Dredd, Man on Fire, The Rock, and North by Northwest, but Bullet Train is the clear headliner.
