Arsenal confirm U21s pre-season schedule
Arsenal U21s ended their season on a disappointing note, losing 3-2 to Manchester City in the Premier League 2 play-off quarter-final.
They also performed poorly in the English Football League (EFL) Trophy, finishing bottom of their group.
While the season was disappointing, several players made notable progress.
Myles Lewis-Skelly was promoted to the first team and has made 38 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side.
He was named the Scholar of the Year at the recent Premier League Youth Development Awards.
Forward Khayon Edwards impressed in the league, scoring 10 goals during the regular season and twice in the play-off.
He was nominated for Player of the Year but lost out to Manchester City’s Jahmai Simpson-Pusey. The 21-year-old could leave the club when his contract expires next month.
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji has made two appearances for the first team, while Jack Henry-Francis and Jimi Gower have been named in the matchday squad.
In preparation for next season, Arsenal have confirmed the pre-season schedule for Mehmet Ali’s side.
They will kick off their schedule with a match against National League side Boreham Wood at Meadow Park on July 12, followed by a fixture against St Albans City at Clarence Park.
They will then travel to Austria to face Young Violets, Austria Wien.
Upon their return, they will play Enfield Town at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium before playing National League outfit Chelmsford City.
Their pre-season concludes at the AS Monaco Performance Centre, where they will take on AS Monaco B.
