Snow, blizzards and ice: storm warning Issued for major cities and 14 regions

Tengrinews.kz – Due to adverse weather conditions in Astana, Almaty, Shymkent and 14 regions of Kazakhstan, storm warnings have been issued for December 25, citing Kazhydromet.

Astana – Snow, blizzard, and icy conditions are expected. Southwesterly wind, at times with gusts of 15–20 meters per second.

Almaty – Fog is expected at night and in the morning.

Shymkent – Fog is expected at times.

Mangystau Region – At night in the west and north of the region, icy conditions are expected. During the day, ice is also expected. Fog is forecast in the north and center of the region. During the day, ground blizzard is expected in the west, north and center. Southeasterly wind shifting to northwesterly; during the day in the west, north and center, gusts are expected to reach 15–20 meters per second. In Aktau, icy conditions are expected during the day. Southeasterly wind shifting to northwesterly, with daytime gusts of 15–20 meters per second.

Kyzylorda Region – Fog and icy conditions are expected in the west, east and center of the region. In Kyzylorda, fog is expected at times, with icy conditions in the evening.

West Kazakhstan Region – Icy conditions are expected in the west, north and east of the region. In Uralsk, fog and icy conditions are expected.

Aktobe Region – Icy conditions are expected in the south of the region. Fog is expected in the south and east.

Pavlodar Region – Snow, ground blizzard and icy conditions are expected in the west and north of the region. Southwesterly wind, with gusts of 15–20 meters per second in the west and south. In Pavlodar, icy roads are expected.

Akmola Region – Snow, blizzard and icy conditions are expected. Southwesterly wind, with gusts of 15–20 meters per second in the west, north and east of the region. In Kokshetau, snow, blizzard and icy conditions are expected. Southwesterly wind, with nighttime gusts up to 15 meters per second.

East Kazakhstan Region – Ground blizzard is expected in the north and east of the region. Fog is expected at night and in the morning in the south and center. Easterly, southeasterly wind, 15–20 meters per second in the north and east. In Ust-Kamenogorsk, southeasterly wind with gusts of 15–20 meters per second is expected.

Abai Region – Light snow is expected in the north of the region. Ground blizzard is expected in the west, north and center. Fog is expected at night and in the morning in the south and east. Southeasterly, southerly wind, 15–20 meters per second in the west, north and center; in Zharma district daytime gusts of 23–28 meters per second. In Semey, light snow and ground blizzard are expected. Southeasterly, southerly wind with daytime gusts of 15–18 meters per second.

Atyrau Region – Fog and icy conditions are expected at night and in the morning in the west and south of the region. In Atyrau, fog and icy conditions are expected at night and in the morning.

Zhetysu Region – Fog is expected at night and in the morning in the mountain areas of the region. Easterly wind, with gusts of 15–20 meters per second in the Alakol lakes area.

Almaty Region – Fog is expected at times in the south and in the mountain areas; icy patches are expected on the roads. Southeasterly wind, with gusts of 15–20 meters per second in the west, east and in the mountains. In Konaev, fog is expected at night and in the morning.

Karaganda Region – Snow, blizzard and icy conditions are expected in the west, north and east of the region. Fog is expected in the west, east and south. Southwesterly wind, with gusts of 15–18 meters per second in the west and north. In Karaganda, snow, blizzard and icy conditions are expected. Southwesterly wind with gusts of 15–18 meters per second.

Ulytau Region – Snow, blizzard and icy conditions are expected. Fog and icy conditions are expected in the west, south and center of the region. Southwesterly wind, with daytime gusts of 15–18 meters per second in the east. In Zhezkazgan, icy conditions and fog are expected.

Turkestan Region – Fog is expected in the south, west and mountain areas of the region. Southeasterly wind, with gusts of 15–20 meters per second on mountain passes in the morning and during the day. In Turkestan, fog is expected at times.
