Lufthansa plane makes an emergency landing in Almaty due to an incident on board
Tengrinews.kz — A passenger on a Lufthansa flight from Munich to Beijing died during the flight. The aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Almaty airport.
What happened
According to the press service of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, the incident occurred on 26 December on flight LH 0722. During the flight, one of the passengers began to feel unwell and then lost consciousness.
“The aircraft crew decided to perform an emergency landing at Almaty International Airport. The airport’s medical service and a city ambulance team were promptly dispatched to the aircraft,” the agency reported.
After the medical personnel arrived, it was determined that the passenger had died while the plane was still in the air. The agency clarified that, after all necessary procedures were completed, the aircraft was refueled in Almaty and continued its flight. At 07:56 local time, the plane departed for its destination airport, Beijing.
According to our sources, the deceased was a 30-year-old man. During the flight, he became unwell, presumably due to heart problems.
What the police said
The press service of the Transport Police Department reported that an investigation is underway.
“In this connection, a criminal case has been opened by the line police department at Almaty airport. The preliminary cause of death is acute heart failure. The deceased, who died suddenly, is a citizen of a foreign state. An investigation is currently in progress. Other information is not subject to disclosure in accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the agency commented.
