Trump invites Tokayev and Kazakhstan to the Peace Council

Tengrinews.kz – Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received an official invitation from Donald Trump to join the newly created Gaza Peace Council, and Kazakhstan has been invited to become one of its founding states. This was reported to Tengrinews.kz by the President’s assistant press secretary, Ruslan Zheldibay.
As previously reported, the U.S. President is establishing a Gaza Peace Council. Invitations to join as founding countries have been sent to the leaders of a number of states. Argentina, Hungary, Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar and Italy have confirmed receipt of the proposals and expressed their agreement to accept them. Invitations were also sent to the leaders of France, Germany and the UAE, but no official confirmation has been received from them so far.
Against this backdrop, discussions have emerged in diplomatic circles and among journalists that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received a similar message — as recognition of our country’s contribution to strengthening stability and security in the world, including efforts to resolve the situation in the Gaza Strip and the Middle East as a whole. It has been noted separately that Washington highly appreciated President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s decision to join the Abraham Accords.
In addition, the Head of our state recently held telephone talks with Donald Trump, Mahmoud Abbas and Benjamin Netanyahu. In this regard, Tengrinews.kz requested clarification on whether Akorda has indeed received an official invitation from the White House to participate in the Peace Council.
Presidential press secretary Ruslan Zheldibay confirmed this, stressing:

“Hiding the fact of receiving such an official communication from President Donald Trump after a series of statements by world leaders would have been wrong. Yes, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was one of the first world leaders to receive an official invitation to join the Peace Council, and for Kazakhstan to become one of its founding states. In response, the Head of State sent a letter to the President of the United States expressing sincere gratitude and confirming his agreement to join this new body. The President reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s aspiration to make its own contribution to achieving lasting peace in the Middle East, strengthening interstate trust and global stability.”

At the same time, the editorial staff asked why the President and his press service had not made this public earlier. Answering this question, Ruslan Zheldibay explained:

“We considered it unethical to make a statement on this matter before an official announcement by Donald Trump’s administration. But the process took on a life of its own.”

It is likely that once all confirmations have been received, the full list of countries that agreed to join the Peace Council will be published, Ruslan Zheldibay added.
According to Washington’s concept, the Peace Council will be responsible for strategic oversight, mobilizing international resources, and monitoring compliance with commitments on Gaza’s peaceful development.
The founding executive board will include, as the White House reports, seven people — “leaders with experience in diplomacy, development, infrastructure and economic strategy.”
Each member of the founding executive board is expected to be responsible for a separate area “critically important for the stabilization of Gaza.”
In addition, a Gaza executive board will be formed to oversee the work of the new government of the enclave. It will include 11 people, among them four members of the founding executive board.
Earlier, Donald Trump described the new body as “the greatest and most prestigious council ever assembled at any time and in any place.”
