Kazhydromet warns residents of Ust-Kamenogorsk, Ridder and Semey

Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has published a warning on its website for residents of several cities in the east of the country.
The information concerns the air quality forecast for the upcoming Monday.

“On 16 February, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in the cities of Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey and Ridder,” the statement says.

Unfavorable meteorological conditions in terms of air pollution are a combination of short-term weather factors (calm, light wind, fog, temperature inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the surface layer of the atmosphere.
According to forecasters, in Ust-Kamenogorsk partly cloudy skies are expected, no precipitation, with possible fog. Southeast wind 1–6 meters per second. Air temperature at night -20…-22 °C, during the day -1…-3 °C.
In East Kazakhstan region, no precipitation is expected. Fog is possible in the north, south and central parts of the region. Southeast wind 9–14 m/s, in the south, east and center gusts 15–20 m/s.
