Over 180 accidents in one day: Police appeal to Astana residents
Tengrinews.kz – The Department of Police in Astana has called on road users to follow increased safety measures due to a strong blizzard and a sharp deterioration in weather conditions.
This was announced by the department’s press service on Wednesday evening.
According to the department, more than 180 road traffic accidents have been registered in the capital today. The main causes of the accidents were poor visibility, slippery road surfaces, and drivers failing to follow traffic rules.
"Drivers are strongly advised to adhere to speed limits, maintain a safe distance, avoid sharp maneuvers, and be as attentive as possible while driving. It is also important not to obstruct the work of municipal and emergency services that are ensuring road clearance and safety in the city," the statement said.
Pedestrians are advised to cross the road only at designated crossings, pay close attention to road conditions, and remain highly vigilant, the department emphasized.
Due to the difficult weather conditions, residents and visitors of the capital are recommended to avoid long trips and unnecessary outings if possible. The department urged all road users to exercise caution and follow safety rules.
