Weightlifter Andranik Karapetyan is European champion

Andranik Karapetyan and Tigran Martirosyan became European champion and vice-champion in the competition of athletes under 77 kg weight category.

Karapetyan, who won the bronze medal last year, lifted 170 kg in the snatch exercise and won the snatch golden medal. He remained undefeated during the clean and jerk exercise as well and lifted 197 kg, once again winning the gold. By total results, Karapetyan was declared European champion.

Reigning European champion Martirosyan used one attempt at snatch, lifting 160 kg. He was successful at clean and jerk too, winning clean and jerk silver medal for 192 kg he lifted. By total results, he became the silver medalist of European championship.

Earlier today, Kristine Petrosyan (63 kg) took the 5th place with total 207 kg result.
