Former Nagorno-Karabakh president calls on France to expert pressure on Azerbaijan
ArmInfo.Samvel Shahramanyan, president of the Nagorno- Karabakh in exile, calls on France to put
pressure on Azerbaijan and make it release Armenian political prisoners.
In an interview with Le Figaro, he said:
"According to our information, today there are 10 or 11 Armenians
remaining throughout the territory of the former Republic of Artsakh
. These are disabled or sick people, who cannot move around or who
wish to stay near the graves of their loved ones. After the forced
exodus of September 2023, their number was greater, but since then,
several dozen Artsakhiotes who had decided to stay there have also
preferred to go into exile in Armenia thanks to the Red Cross."
Regarding the issue of prisoners of war and civilians, Shahramanyan
said that after the September aggression, in addition to taking 8
former leaders of Artsakh hostage, Azerbaijan captured 7 more
military personnel. In this regard, the President of Artsakh asked
France to put pressure on Azerbaijan in order to release all Armenian
prisoners. "I demand their immediate and unconditional release, as
well as the release of all Armenian prisoners arbitrarily arrested,
wrongfully imprisoned and victims of unfounded accusations. And I
ask France to put pressure on President Aliyev to achieve this
release," the president said.
