Jermall Charlo and Juan Macias Montiel on Friday made weight for their middleweight title fight Saturday in Houston (Showtime).
Charlo, who will be defending his WBC belt in front of his hometown fans, weighed in at the limit of 160 pounds. Montiel, from Mexico, came in at 159.6.
Charlo (31-0, 22 KOs) is coming off a wide decision over Sergiy Derevyanchenko in September. Montiel (24-2-2, 22 KOs) last fought in December, when he stopped James Kirkland in one round.
The weights for other featured fights are as follows:
- Isaac Cruz (21-1-1, 15 KOs) and Francisco Vargas (27-2-2, 19 KOs) weighed 133 and 134, respectively, for their scheduled 10-round lightweight bout.
- And Angelo Leo (20-1, 9 KOs) came in at 122, Aaron Alameda (25-1, 13 KOs) 123.4 for their scheduled 10-round junior featherweight fight. Alameda weighed 1.4 over the division limit but will be allowed to fight.
