P. Terry's adds chicken bites to the menu for limited time
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Popular Texas fast-food chain P. Terry's Burger Stand is throwing its hat in the chicken nugget ring.
The burger-based chain announced Monday that it will offer chicken bites for a limited time only at all 32 of its locations. It's the first time in the chain's 19-year history it'll offer a non-burger entree, according to the announcement, though the restaurant does offer chicken burgers on a regular basis.
The chicken bites have already been available in a "limited number of locations" due to high demand, but the announcement said all locations will now offer the new menu item starting Monday. The chain did not specify when the limited-time-only offer will end.
According to the announcement, the chicken bites are made daily from 100% chicken breast with no additives or preservatives, and they're dipped in buttermilk, panko breadcrumbs, salt, pepper and garlic salt. They were developed and created in P. Terry’s kitchen by Chef Frankie Alvarado. The release noted he also oversaw the creation of the five dipping sauces that are available with the bites: Special Sauce, Spicy Special Sauce, Buffalo Sauce, Frankie Sauce, and Ranch.
“The bites are served in quantities of 8 to a box and are larger than the customary nugget. With a price of $4.95, P. Terry’s is once again offering more chicken at a better price than all its competitors. That’s something we take great pride in.,” said Patrick Terry, CEO of P. Terry's. “After 19 years, I can tell you this is about as exciting a day as we have ever had. We’ve been tasting and testing for months, and we think we’ve created the perfect bite.”
P. Terry’s was founded in 2005 in Austin, Texas and has grown to a total of 32 locations across Central Texas and San Antonio since.
