Grand Final Day - UWA Sports Park
If you intend coming along to the Grand Final at UWA Sports Park, Please read details below.
These are designed to help inform you and make your experience more smooth on the day.
There are some significant changes in place from when you may have visited The Library, from Force, Spirit or Club games.
Unless you've been living on the moon... Covid-19 is forcing the UWA club to abide by some pretty heavy guidelines laid down by The WA State Government, City of Nedlands and The University of WA.
The club hasn't made up these rules.... They have to abide by them. Please support the Rugby WA community as best you possibly can by abiding by the rules and following the directions of the Security Officers and Covid Marshalls on the day.
10 Grand Finals... all in one day. 3 fields finishing with the main game on field one at 4.20pm kick off.
If the game goes to extra time, UWA have recently upgraded the lighting in the entire precinct. Finishing at twilight will not be a problem for players or spectators.
Entry for players is via the breeze way between the football club and the northern end of the change rooms. Your name will be checked off and you will be counted.
Entry for all other spectators and hangers on, will be via the usual entry point to the South of the club rooms.
The entire precinct will be fenced. This is because under the governments 2 sq metre rule, we need to know exactly how many people are in the area. There is a maximum crowd allowed, UWA and Rugby WA reserve the right to close the gate if this number is reached.
All entrants will be asked to please record their contact details by way of name and a phone number for contact tracing purposes. Because this is a function over 2000 people and we don't record your details via a credit card sale (like the AFL etc), we need to record for contact tracing purposes. One record per family is fine. These records will be destroyed by regulation, 28 days after the event.
Entry Fees are:
$8.00 for Adults
$5.00 Concession & students
Kids under 16 free.
ALL PAY POINTS INCLUDING PARKING, BBQ AND BARS WILL HAVE CONTACTLESS PAYMENT OPTIONS.
Come prepared to pay contactless. If you prefer cash, the club will cater for this... but EFT is safer.
Parking in the usual club carpark is by way of a $5.00 parking fee. However there are literally 100's of free parking options around UWA Sports park and the HBF arena. Rugby is the only major sport on the day so we have little completion for parking. Please follow the direction of the parking attendants to keep the carpark area as neat as possible for your easy access and egress on the day.
DON'T IGNORE THE NO PARKING SIGNS.... YOU WILL BE TOWED. (All complaints to UWA Campus Security... not the club).
As mentioned earlier, we have to count every person in and out... this may slow the gate time. Please get there nice and early for the game you want to watch. Be patient with the gate staff who are all volunteers doing their best to get you inside as quick as they can.
Please respect social distancing while you are on site. We understand some practicalities will make this difficult during the main game. There is plenty of space... spread out. If a COVID Marshall or security guard asks you to space out.... don't abuse them, they are just working within the rules laid down.
NO DOGS or PETS on site (Working animal excepted). This is for everyones safety in what is expected to be a large crowd.
Don't attempt to tie your fido to the fence with a bowl of water.... City of Nedlands Ranger will be called with no mercy.
There is a club designated zone on the flat at the northern end of the ground behind the posts. Clubs are welcome to set up tents here. There are to be no tents or structures set up on the hill for the entire game. This is a part of our Covid Regulations to encourage people to separate.Again... UWA RFC doesn't make the rules with this.
All bags, espies, Picnic baskets etc will be inspected prior to entry. Please don't bring booze. UWA Security will confiscate it and return it to you after the game.
I know there are lots of rules and dont's above, but we are living in unusual times.
We are very lucky to be playing community sport at all, and for that we should all be thankful.
Come along, be patient, have a great time on what will be your best and only opportunity this year to watch quality live rugby.
