Davante Adams says Stephen A. Smith is 'sniffin glue' after hot take on NFL's best WRs
Stephen A. Smith ranked the top 5 NFL receivers. Davante Adams and Antonio Brown didn't make the list.
Stephen A. Smith made a few glaring omissions while ranking the top five receivers in the NFL during a segment on ESPN’s “First Take.” When a video of the show hit Twitter, it drew the attention of one of those slighted pass-catchers. Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams, who was not on the list, suggested that Smith had been “sniffin glue.”
From fifth to first, Smith’s top five wideouts went: the Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill, the Saints’ Michael Thomas, the Browns’ Odell Beckham, the Texans’ DeAndre Hopkins and the Falcons’ Julio Jones. Aside from Adams, Smith also left out Oakland Raiders receiver Antonio Brown, who is one of the league’s most talented (and dramatic) players. It’s possible Adams was irked he wasn’t on the list — it’s possible Adams was standing up for Brown. Either way, he wasn’t pleased with Smith.
Here’s the interaction on Twitter.
Adams finished the 2018 season with 111 receptions, tied for sixth most in the NFL, for 1,386 receiving yards, seventh-most in the NFL, and 12 receiving touchdowns, second-most in the NFL.
Smith didn’t have an easy task in paring down the league’s best receivers to five. But clearly, Adams thinks Smith could have done better.
