England’s Lionesses top the King’s New Year Honours list
January 1 – The England Football Association (FA) has used the King’s New Year Honours list for 2026 to trumpet the ground-breaking success of the Lionesses’ at UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.
In a rare honour, England coach Sarina Wiegman was awarded the DBE for her services to the UK and international sport, while captain Leah Williamson received a CBE, adding to the OBE she was awarded after the 2022 success. Four more players from the 2025 squad,
