Solomon agent: Fiorentina relegation could cost Spurs 10m after Southampton snub
Shlomi Ben Ezra, agent of Manor Solomon, says the Tottenham-owned winger rejected an offer from Southampton in January, but he ‘will leave’ Fiorentina at the end of the season if the Tuscans are relegated.
Israel international Solomon is happy to have chosen Fiorentina in the January window and hopes to remain at the Stadio Franchi long-term.
Solomon completed a temporary move in the January transfer window after spending the first half of the season on loan at Villarreal.
Fiorentina move ‘a good decision’ for Solomon
“It was a good decision, and in the last couple of games, he got significant playing time,” Solomon’s agent told Hahm Aave via TMW.
“Fiorentina have an option to buy, he lives in a fantastic place, and it was an easy decision.”
Solomon has started in Fiorentina’s last two games, scoring his first Serie A goal last weekend in a 2-1 loss against Napoli at the Stadio Maradona.
Tottenham will receive €10m for the winger’s permanent move to Fiorentina at the end of the season, but it will only happen if the Tuscans avoid relegation.
Fiorentina can buy Solomon for 10m
“He has signed a contract until the end of the season with an option for €10m,” his agent said.
“If they are relegated, he’ll leave. There was a chance to join Southampton, but he didn’t want to play in the second division. Hopefully, Fiorentina remain in Serie A so he can continue with them.”
Fiorentina have also welcomed Fabio Paratici from Tottenham as the Italian has taken on a role as a sporting director from February 4.
Fiorentina are currently in the relegation zone in Serie A, sitting 18th, but they are just one point below safety.
This coming weekend they host Torino at the Stadio Franchi.
