CAF chief Veron Mosengo-Omba quits as AFCON final controversy continues
March 30 – Controversial Confederation of African Football (CAF) general secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba has resigned following growing calls for his exit amid demands for an investigation into alleged corruption within the organisation and the recent debacle over the CAF decision to strip Senegal of the AFCON title.
In a statement Mosengo-Omba said he was retiring from football to pursue “more personal projects”.
Rumours are that he will run for the presidency of the Congolese FA after its president Jean-Guy Blaise Mayolas was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Brazzaville court earlier this month for embezzling more than €1 million in funds provided by FIFA earlier.
