After a hard year, new Deutsche Boerse boss looks to brighter future
Frankfurt (dpa) - After a tough year that saw a failed merger with the London Stock Exchange, insider trading accusations and market doldrums, the new head of the Deutsche Boerse is looking ahead with optimism."For the current financial year we are expecting at least a 5-per-cent growth in net yields," said Theodor Weimer, who stepped into the top job at the beginning of the year after his predecessor failed to shake off insider trading allegations."Overall, we are at least not expecting any further cyclical headwinds," Weimer said from the firm‘s headquarters in Eschborn near Frankfurt.Profits should be up at least 10 per cent, he predicted. As well as home-made crises, a slow pace on the financial markets have made things difficult for Deutsche Boerse in the last year. Growth targets have been missed, said financial director Gregor Pottmeyer, with net yields rising only 3 per cent, to 2.46 billion euros.
